National Express coaches stop in Darlington, Durham, Stockton-on-Tees and Middlesbrough. All of these locations offer connecting National Express coaches to Durham Tees, Liverpool, Manchester, Milton Keynes and London (Marble Arch).

From Darlington you can catch the number 12 bus which will take you to the airport. The bus stop at the airport is located at the side of the main terminal building.

From Middlesbrough you can get the number 20 bus to the airport. This bus goes via Stockton, Hartburn, Yarm, Eaglescliffe and Long Newton.
